1-day WILDERNESS tour

As described in 2-days Northern light tour. After lunch, resting a while and enjoyed the nature we ride with the dog-team back to Kurravaara.

2-days NORTHERN LIGHT tour with overnight in a lappish hut.

Approx. 9.00 car-transfer from your hostel/hotel in Kiruna to Kurravaara 20 minutes away from Kiruna. Here the dogs get harnessed in front of the sledges. When the sled is moving you can only hear the breath from the dogs and the sound from the runners against the snow. We ride on the sledge about 10 km. through the forest and on the ice of Torne and Rautas River. You can ride on the guides sled or drive one yourself. There are no roads in this region and you might see wild animals and tracks from them in the snow. We stop for lunch; lappish specialities made out of reindeer-meet or fish, potatoes, bread, and then coffee and cake, in our Lappish wilderness-cabin, made the old, traditional way. Veg. food is also possible if told before. After lunch you can enjoy a peaceful day in nature or try some of the activities as cross-country skiing, chopping firewood, ice-fishing or just relax at the campfire or play with the dogs. You can also take part in feeding them in the evening and morning. After dinner you can enjoy a wooden-heated sauna. If weather is clear the chances to see northern light are high. No electric lights are disturbing the spectacular scenery. You sleep comfortably on reindeer-furs in sleeping bag. After breakfast you will have time for activities. After lunch we ride with the dog-team through the beautiful winter-landscape back to Kurravaara. Transfer to your hotel/hostel in Kiruna. We are back earliest at 16.30. The time can be adjusted by starting earlier or later in the morning and is as a wilderness tour depending on the weather and whatever can happen on the way.
